Surface Duo 2 to get 3 years of software update says microsoft

Microsoft revealed their new child phone which folds into a tablet or a tablet that turns into a phone i.e Surface Duo 2 earlier this week, making for a massive upgrade on paper over the original model which was kinda not that great and failed to impress many big named youtubers and even the audience to say.

But what should you expect in terms of software updates though? Now, the four window company has given us an answer.

"We are committed to providing three years of OS and security updates,” a Microsoft representative told an online news media outlet Authority Authority.

The statement matches what the company said about the original Surface Duo. The commitment for the Surface Duo line means Microsoft is in the league of major big android brands like Samsung, OnePlus, Oppo for OS updates, though It doesn't quite match with Samsung when it comes to security patches, as the Korean manufacturer is offering four years of security updates, but the overall commitment is still good news for the end users.

We will provide 3 years of OS update: Microsoft

Microsoft also confirmed that they are working to bring Android 11 to the first Surface Duo “before the end of this year.” This is a little disappointing when you consider that Android 12 is expected to launch soon. So all we can hope for is that the company picks up the speed and drops the Android 12 soon enough.

We don't know when or if this device will land in India but If it did we are sure it'll be expensive and you'll need to shell out just as much as Apple's iPhone.
