Home Tech, Do we really need them?

Smart Home devices do we really need them?
Recently Google has launched a tons of smart speakers like Google Home, Google Home Mini, Google Home Max. Companies like Amazon has also launched their own set of assistant smart speakers like Amazon Alexa and Amazon Dot. Even Apple is set to release their own Apple HomePod in early next year in 2018. Apart from this companies like NEST have launched devices like NEST Thermostat and NEST smart CCTV Camera.

But exactly what are these?
Google smart speakers allow users to speak voice commands to interact with services with Google's intelligent assistant called Google Assistant.
It allows users to play or pause music, control video playback, listen to news and phone notifications and also allow to pick up call. It also shows weather's and reminders. It's like your own assistant, that assistant can tell you jokes or sing a song if needed, sometimes it's helpful and sometime it's not. It can add reminders give you a recipe too if needed.

Apart from this smart speakers or assistant there are smart bulbs too.
Smart lighting gives you the flexibility to change the color, hue, brightness and ambiance of your lighting in any room, in order to suit your mood or individual preferences. Whether you're reading, relaxing, exercising or socializing, you can set or adjust your lighting to meet your needs. You can use products like the Philips hue it's so smart that you can control it with an Philips HUE app on your phone to change the colour of the light. Some lighting systems also use switches and sensors to work with other systems, such as Nest thermostats

For example, when your Nest thermostat switches into "away mode," your lights can occasionally turn on and off while you're away in order to deter burglars, yes it's that smart.
If your thermostat maintains a comfortable temperature in your home, even when nobody's there to appreciate it, does it needlessly bloat your utility bills?
Smart thermostats like NEST solve these issues with easy access from your smartphone and more intuitive programming. Sensors and algorithms keep track of your schedule so that comfortable temperatures are maintained when you're home — and energy consumption is reduced when you're not. Real-time reports and scheduled stat updates allow you to view your usage history. This means more comfort and less waste.

What do I feel about it?
Honestly, I feel these smart home devices are cool and useful but not as useful as it may seem to be. How many times will you wake up your Google Assistant to solve your queries? Even your phone has the same thing I guess! And in India it's way to expensive. And people in India has just started using LED lights so switching to smart led lights will not be so quick, but it's also too expensive for the price it is for. But if you can switch to it then do it it's amazing. If I had to use this products I'd have given it a try. Don't get me wrong these products are not bad they're useful but not as useful in India especially, No doubt people in Western countries are buying these products like a hot cupcake.
But at the end these Smart assistant won't help you to cook or cut vegetables for you. But if you can upgrade to it you should too give it a try. Let me know what do you feel about it in the comments section.

"Ok, Google! What do you feel about yourself?"
